West Hollywood’s public safety agencies released their April 2025 reports, detailing law enforcement, emergency response, and community outreach efforts across the city, reflecting ongoing commitment to safety and engagement.

Sheriff’s Station Activity

The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station handled 1,767 calls for service in April, a 9.5% increase from 1,613 in April 2024. Deputies made 102 arrests, including 38 felonies and 64 misdemeanors, slightly down from 107 total arrests the previous year. Emergency response calls (73 incidents) averaged 3.7 minutes, compared to 3.6 minutes in 2024.

Part 1 crimes totaled 183 incidents, up from 167 in March 2025, with 57% in the West District (105 cases), 24% in the East District (44), and 19% in City Center (34). Property crimes were significant, with 77 other thefts (including 10 grand theft pickpockets), 25 thefts from motor vehicles, 22 burglaries, and 10 auto thefts. Pickpocketing in the Rainbow District spiked to 34 incidents, part of 88 year-to-date cases. Robbery reports included 9 incidents, with 6 strong-arm street robberies.

Deputies issued citations across 89 traffic reports, including 11 on Sunset Boulevard, 53 on Fountain Avenue, 30 on Santa Monica Boulevard, and 26 on Melrose Avenue. Seven DUI arrests and six DUI-related collisions were recorded, alongside four scooter/e-bike citations (e.g., riding on sidewalks). The Sheriff’s Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) responded to 51 incidents, and 54 SORTS online reports were filed for theft/vandalism without suspect details. Proactive outreach with unhoused individuals included 117 contacts, offering 113 services, with 2 accepted.

Security Ambassadors Report

West Hollywood’s Safety Ambassadors maintained robust community presence, reporting 3,587 hospitality assists citywide, a 58% increase from 2,269 in April 2024. Business contacts totaled 4,204, down 18% from 5,091, reflecting a strategic shift toward targeted outreach. Santa Monica Boulevard saw 3,861 business contacts and 2416 hospitality assists, while Sunset and Melrose avenues reported 266 and 77 business contacts, respectively.

Interactions with unhoused individuals reached 1,249, up 6% from 1,191, with 872 on Santa Monica Boulevard and 84 at West Hollywood Park (down 46% due to the Senior Safety Officer program). Ambassadors responded to 686 calls for service, a 6% rise from 482, and provided 30 safety escorts, down 12% from 17. Improper scooter parking incidents dropped 11% to 248, with 17 Sheriff assists (up 70%) and 9 EMS/fire support calls.

Bicycle patrols covered 787 miles, down 12% from 932 due to equipment issues, with 466 miles on Santa Monica Boulevard. Kiosk contacts surged, with La Brea (79), Robertson (55), and Fairfax (68) showing significant increases, and new patrols at Veterans Park (22) and La Jolla (29) boosting engagement. Park patrols at Plummer (265 restroom counts) and West Hollywood Park (735) ensured safety, with 71 and 34 park code violations, respectively.
