WeHo “Street Bars” Pop-Up, Leaving Bar Owners Disabled

WeHo’s newest “Street Bar” popped up along Santa Monica Blvd. this past weekend. This sidewalk establishment was selling alcoholic beverages with no oversight. This particular “Street Bar” was located just outside of Beaches.

“Street Bar”

“Street Bars” have been previously reported but West Hollywood’s latest craze continues unfettered.  ‘Trash Bar” made its debut last month. “Trash Bar” operated in the Rainbow District on top of the City’s Big Belly Solar Operated Trash Compactors – and appeared to be a part of Weho’s “Glitter not Litter’” Alcohol Consumption Outreach Campaign. “Trash Bar” opens on weekends in WeHo’s Rainbow District and during most major events.

“Trash Bar”

Employees of ‘Trash Bar” don’t have to comply with any of the city, state or federal regulations.    There are no restrictions and drinks are sold to minors that cannot enter other bars or nightclubs legally.

“Cooler Club” bar has also been given an “unofficial license” to operate in West Hollywood without restrictions. The “Cooler Club’” sells beer, tequila, and other beverages in a rent free environment and comes with dancing on the streets. There are multiple “Cooler Club” mobile locations operating on any given night and usually a whistle away from the hot dog vendors.  They have a street manager too who runs the gang.

But, 2025 and WeHo’s 1st ‘Illegal Street Vendor Laureate’ is none other than Baddie Blast. Their open air outdoor alcohol establishment came complete with social media promotion and WeHo-centric advertising and dancing in the streets. Their menu in bright neon . scream the words “Bloody Cunt” and “Monster Dick.”.   Something for Everybody.

Baddie Blast was open directly across the street from the West Hollywood Sheriff Station.

The City of West Hollywood has generously surrendered our streets to unfettered chaos.  Yet, multiple sting operations have targeted legal businesses for cell phone thefts, pickpockets, and drink spiking, and turn a blind eye to the rampant disregard to the degradation of WeHo’s Rainbow District.

WeHo Business Owners need to SPEAK UP! The next City Council meeting is January 12th, 2026.

Back in the day some would pay to catch a case of the clap on the street. And now?

Can’t WeHo go back to just being normal gay people seeking gay rights and an abundance of sexual partners? It was honestly so pure up until around 7 years ago.

I drove on SM Blvd from the far-far west side to my home near Fairfax.

The city is gorgeous. New shops, new facades, new offerings. Wow,

Really?

Oh, you must have been driving very, very fast to miss the huge triangle shaped hole in the ground on SMB and Doheny, or the next one on SMB at Robertson but you MUST have seen the former French Market on SMB and Laurel which closed 10 years ago this past July and….

Fascinating.
From where did this originate?

The entire city of LA is lawless and filthy.

West Hollywood is a perverted “Portlandia”……where silly people focus on silly things……as the city devolves into chaos with rainbow cross walks.

The notion of serious people working to advance the overall living condition……has been replaced with sectarian grievances of the unproductive class.

I completely agree

West Hollywood used to be a nice place to live

This is absolutely ridiculous. And this is what happens when you leave a bunch of kids in charge of your city council. Your city goes to crap. Can you imagine they’re even contemplating opening up Santa Monica Blvd. to alcohol consumption to add fuel to the fire literally. They all need to go.

They’re contemplating opening up Santa Monica Blvd to alcohol consumption? Wasn’t aware of that, thank you. That’s a great idea!

I’ve not heard that WEHO is considering this for SMB but 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica has it. They are permitting drinking-aged adults to consume alcohol outdoors within a designated Entertainment Zone, provided they use approved plastic cups. It’s open Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Expanded hours may be added at a later date. SB 969 (2024) approved these zones.

As our licensed and tax revenue generating bars and restaurants continue to struggle , the city and police just turn a blind eye? Are the street liquor vendors asking for IDs?

Is this situation really happening??!! By allowing the illegal hot dog vendors to continue selling and not doing anything to stop their sales, you are encouraging other vendors to come up with even more insane ideas like selling liquor on the street. The city needs to step up and stop this nonsense before someone gets hurt.

When John Erickson ran for his first term on our city Council, his campaign platform was to make West Hollywood a fun place to be for people under 40!
Well, is this fun enough for you, John? Doesn’t look like fun to me! It looks like a helluva mess! Maybe you should concentrate less on ice-skating rinks and more on protecting your constituents and WeHo businesses!

Well to be honest, a lot of people do seem to be having fun with it, yes. Isn’t it supply and demand? If nobody wanted to partake, they wouldn’t be there.

So when someone downs a street drink and is roofied, everyone can sue John Erickson. Until then let’s get Hangs motion back in front of the council. Let’s also get in front of the Sheriff to enforce existing laws and arrest these a-holes. And John Erickson, this is your problem- wait until me and my neighbors start turning up at your campaign events throughout your hopeful district and start getting primary candidates to talk these points. Erickson this is your problem. And we won’t let you forget it it.

Since you brought that up, it might be safer and more roofie-free than certain other legally operating venues.

It’s not difficult to follow the degradation of West Hollywood quality of living to the actions of Lindsey Horvath, Sepi Shyne, John Erickson, Chelsea Byers, and Danny Hang. Elect a student council (errr…prom committee) and you get juvenile antics, lawlessness, and performatively woke excuses for bad behavior. Remember when Horvath and Erickson illegally painted the intersection of Santa Monica and San Vicente and put the community at risk with the slick paint they used? Zero consequences for that chaotic anarchy. They all need to grow up.

The WHSD should be all over this. Alcohol sales are strictly regulated and the sheriffs have a responsibility to enforce the illegal sales.

Actually … you’re wrong.
ABC officers are trained in the intricacies of alcohol enforcement, local police and sheriffs are not.

Ok. Whatever you say, but you’re wrong. It’s absolutely within the scope of enforcement for sheriffs. Even code enforcement can enforce against illegal alcohol sales.
