West Hollywood Arts is kicking off the new year with some great programming that you might want to consider adding to your calendar, plus some real opportunities for artists and arts groups who want to work with the City.
The City’s Arts Division also shared a nice overview of what it backed in 2025, and the list is quite impressive: 845 new artworks created, 183 programs, 638 artists worked with, reaching 51,980 people. You can watch the City’s 2025 year-end recap video here.
Winter Sounds Dates Are Back
The City’s Winter Sounds free indoor concert series is slated to return with three Saturday nights. The dates: Jan. 24, Feb. 7, and Feb. 21. You can check here for updates and artist announcements.
Drag Story Hour Returns Feb. 7
Drag Story Hour is set for Saturday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. in the West Hollywood Library Community Meeting Room (625 N. San Vicente Blvd.). It’s free, and the City says you don’t need to RSVP. More information is here.
The City notes Drag Story Hour was created by Michelle Tea and RADAR Productions in San Francisco in 2015. In 2017, the City’s Arts Division funded the first Drag Story Hour at the West Hollywood branch of the LA County Public Library.

Two Deadlines If You’re An Artist, Or You Know One
Request for Proposals: Free Theatre in the Parks 2026 (deadline Feb. 2)
The City is seeking proposals from arts organizations to present Free Theatre in the Parks in September 2026 at Kings Road Park (1000 Kings Road). A minimum of six weekend performances would be presented outdoors in the late afternoon or early evening, with material suitable for all audiences. The City says all genres are welcome, and it’s open to new productions or remounts. More information is here.
Route 66 Centennial Temporary Public Artworks (deadline Feb. 23)
Santa Monica Boulevard is part of historic Route 66, and the City is seeking proposals from artists, curators, and arts organizations for three temporary public art exhibitions along Santa Monica Boulevard to mark the Route 66 centennial in 2026.
The three opportunities the City lists:
A large-scale, three-dimensional, temporary sculptural installation at the Plummer Park Community Center (7377 Santa Monica Blvd.), with an all-inclusive project budget of $60,000.
Original digital artwork designs for vinyl wraps on City-owned light poles along Santa Monica Boulevard, with fabrication and installation handled by the City, and a design fee of $12,250.
An original design for an approximately 700-square-foot digital artwork on a building façade at 8315 Santa Monica Blvd., with fabrication and installation handled by the City, and a design fee of $10,000.
The deadline is Monday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. PT. More information is here.
On View Now: Heart Of WeHo
“Heart of WeHo” is on view at the West Hollywood Library (625 N. San Vicente Blvd.). In honor of the City’s 40th anniversary of cityhood, the group show spotlights places around West Hollywood through the eyes of 27 artists, with the work focused on locations inside the City’s 1.9 square miles.
