UPDATE: Suspect in West Hollywood US Bank Robbery IDd, Charged in Culver City Heist Too

A man arrested by West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies last week after allegedly trying to rob the US Bank on Santa Monica Boulevard has been identified as Shawn Greene, 35, and charged with two counts of bank robbery.

WEHOonline broke the story of the June 12 robbery attempt as it unfolded and was first to report the drone-assisted arrest. Greene allegedly passed a demand note to a teller at the branch at 8631 Santa Monica Blvd. and took off on foot — practically across the street from the Sheriff’s Station. Cops tracked him in real time using the station’s watch center camera network and drone program and arrested him at Holloway Drive and La Cienega Boulevard. He was caught with a large firearm on him.

WEHOonline was first to report the station used its Drone as First Responder program in the arrest.

Sgt. Luvano told us it was the cameras that did it. “Those cameras are worth their weight in gold,” he said. The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station has 60 of them running through the watch center. They want more.

After his bust in WeHo, Culver City detectives went to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station to interview Greene. He admitted to robbing a bank at the 3800 block of Culver Center, near Venice and Overland, on June 2. Walked in. Handed a note to the teller saying he had a weapon. Walked out with the cash. Same MO as the US Bank heist.

Culver City police are leading the investigation. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed two counts of bank robbery against Greene.

A West Hollywood Sheriff’s detective confirmed to WEHOonline Wednesday morning that Greene is the same suspect arrested on June 12 and connected to both crimes. An earlier version of this story named the suspect differently, based on booking records. The suspect was allegedly using an alias at the time. That has been corrected.

Anyone with information can call Culver City Detective Matt Stulp at 310-253-6312. To stay anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or go to lacrimestoppers.org.

It would be better if they found the person/s involved in the shootings.
