West Hollywood Condemns ICE Raids and Federal Military Deployment

The City of West Hollywood has issued a strong condemnation of recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids conducted in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. City officials describe these operations as disruptive, discriminatory, and deeply destabilizing, asserting that they target immigrant families, sow fear in local neighborhoods, and undermine public trust in the federal government’s commitment to due process and the rule of law.

Additionally, the city has criticized President Trump’s unilateral decision to federalize and deploy 2,000 California National Guard troops. This move, deemed unnecessary by West Hollywood leadership, is seen as an unprecedented use of military force that risks setting a dangerous precedent and heightening regional tensions.

West Hollywood emphasizes that immigrant communities are vital contributors to the social, cultural, and economic vitality of the region, state, and nation. The city vows not to remain passive as intimidation supplants dignity or as families face separation. It stands in solidarity with neighboring cities in opposing these ICE raids and the aggressive tactics employed against immigrant populations, advocating for collective efforts to safeguard human rights.

As a long-standing safe haven for LGBTQ+ individuals, immigrants, and other marginalized groups, West Hollywood reaffirms its opposition to federal actions that jeopardize the rights and safety of its residents. The city remains committed to upholding human rights, equality, and inclusion.

For those seeking support, the Los Angeles County Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) offers an online ‘Know Your Rights’ resource hub. This platform provides immigrant communities and service providers with critical information and local resources. It can be accessed at https://oia.lacounty.gov/kyr/.

Those are problems caused by the MAGA supporters and, the Caps Lock is located on the far left of your keyboard. To solve those problems and more, be sure to VOTE for candidates on the far left of any elected officials. 😎

Disgusting to see so many far right MAGAts flood these comment sections trying to defend the anti-Christian cruelty of the Trump Administration and its ICE thugs. Y’all need to build a time machine and go back to Nazi Germany where clearly you’d rather live.

God bless ICE. This is an 80/20 issue …….the country wants its laws enforced.

More like it’s selective enforcement by ICE to promote a racist agenda of ethnically cleansing the country, one of the cited Project 2025 goals of the current administration.

The all round optics for this are horrific for the progressive/Democrat platform. Rioters, wrapped in foreign flags, destroying an ostensibly American city – footage broadcast scross the country – the city and state political leadership lying to your face that it’s a peaceful protest.

Disastrous. Handing Trump a huge victory

The law is the law. Without laws we have chaos. The federal government is enforcing federal law. The Los Angeles city mayor and our state governor should be protecting federal agents while they do their job. They failed to do that and that’s why the federal government stepped in to protect public property and the agents enforcing the law. If local officials cooperated with federal officials, the federal law-enforcement agents would be out of here a lot faster.

Thank you for the City Council of the Great City of West Hollywood standing up for the rights of people now targeted by the current administration. The ICE raids (kidnappings) and anti-immigrant hysteria are simply intended to ethnically cleanse the country and make America’s non-whites feel completely unwelcome in the country. The unlawful deployment of the National Guard to crush 1st Amendment protected protests against ICE’s deportation raids is only fueling the uprisings throughout the Los Angeles area and, now spreading to the rest of the country.

We welcome you in and you spit on our flag, while flying your country origin flag (that you claimed you needed to escape)…all while collecting hard paying taxpayer benefits and overloading our public services. My sympathies are running empty. Adios.

Glad that West Hollywood is standing up for their Latino neighbors and common sense. The recent ICE raids are causing fear and consternation among residents of the county and beyond. I am due to visit LA Saturday for a couple of planned theater events in the Civic Center district and am uncertain what I will encounter. I will have to worry about dealing with ICE agents and angry protesters. Taking public transportation will be risky as ICE could raid trains or busses, but driving will be risky as well if a freeway is closed. I hope a solution can be… Read more »

Some clarification on the Waymo car fires. I tried to tell them “do NOT put water on a lithium fire ❗ ” Lithium is a highly reactive metal even though it is considered the least reactive among the alkali metals, it reacts vigorously with water, releasing hydrogen gas and forming lithium hydroxide in an exothermic chemical reaction. Use a Specialized Class D Fire Extinguisher or just back off.

If you were a decent person, you would try to tell them not to destroy anything. Not how to burn other’s property more effectively. You’re just an agitator and are just as bad as them stoking the fires.

This city is so lost. This is an 80/20 issue. Always being on the wrong side has consequences for the residents here. Trump might be a lunatic but he’s right on immigration.

The Democrats throw the word fascism around…don’t seem to remember you saying that when the Gov was arresting people for paddle boarding in the ocean during his lockdowns orders. That was fascism at its worst.

In March of 2020, Los Angeles County closed all of its beaches to try to slow the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Keep in mind at the time we did NOT have an effective & available COVID-19 Vaccine 💉 and, were entirely dependant on non-pharmaceutical containment methods like the “Lockdowns” that ended up saving MILLIONS of LIVES Worldwide

So why did the let BLM have massive marches in the street at the sane time?

Because BLM (Black Lives Matter) used N95 masks and Social Distancing during the pandemic marches. They were putting out valid COVID-19 information about the disease outbreak as opposed to right-wing pandemic denial and outright lies!

NIH (National Institutes of Health) Research and analysis of BLM (Black Lives Matter) protests during the COVID-19 pandemic indicate that mask-wearing was common & encouraged, social distancing was often difficult but consistently maintained as much as possible even though the nature of mass gatherings challenges social distancing. Racial justice protests were NOT a major cause of COVID-19 infection
