West Hollywood Disability Health Fair Connects Residents to Social Services

The Disability Advisory Board (DAB) held its annual Disability Heath and Wellness Fair on Wednesday afternoon at the Plummer Park Community Center.

On hand were members of the DAB, along with a host of social services and community organizations meant to highlight the wide array of WeHo’s many cooperative and collaborative partners. 

Council member Erickson welcomed the guests and thanked the many partners who participated in brining vital services to West Hollywood residents.   

The event began at 11am and continued until 3pm at the Plummer Park Community Center.   Rooms 1&2 offered ‘Chair Yoga’, and meet and greet with Battalion Chief Kevin Price, as well as and Emergency Preparedness Presentation but Disability Community Resource Center.  

Cedar Sinai Medical Center offered health screenings, diabetes education, and a lung cancer screening program and flu shots.    In the senior lounge the California Hearing Center hosted residents with questions on hearing loss. 

Booths lined the perimeter of rooms 5 & 6 with representatives from the City of West Hollywood and many of our cooperative and collaborative partners.   

Present were members from the Disability Advisory Board, The Older Adults Advisory Board, and the Women’s Advisory Board.

Cedar Sinai also hosted a booth with information and a pharmacist to ask questions.   Los Angeles County Departments of had representatives to discuss aging & disabilities, mental health, public health, and other available social services.   

Also on hand were many of the city funded agencies which include Ambiance Transportation, APLA Health, Bet Tzedek Legal Services, City Transportation, Disability Community Resource Center, the LA LGBT Center Senior Services, Jewish Family Services LA, Maple Counseling, Planned Parenthood LA, Project Angel Food, Seeds of Hope, and World Harvest.   All of the booths offered free product and information to everybody.
