Turns out Joshua Eddy, the West Hollywood man arrested Sunday at PortMiami before boarding a Royal Caribbean cruise is a Meta employee and OnlyFans creator with 306,000 Instagram followers.
Joshua Eddy, 41, works as a Global Client Lead at Meta, according to a LinkedIn profile reviewed by The Advocate. The profile has since been removed or made private. Professional contact database RocketReach shows he also holds leadership positions at Instagram and Facebook and studied at both UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and UCLA School of Law, as well as Northwestern University.
WEHOonline found California State Bar records show Eddy holds an active attorney license (Bar #292495) with a business address listed as 1125 N. Fairfax Avenue, Unit 46102, in West Hollywood. This is the address of the West Hollywood Post Office and PO Box. There’s no indication he currently practices law.
Eddy also produces adult content on OnlyFans and has 306,000 followers on his Instagram account @eddythefit, where his bio reads “Not all of me, just the meaty bits.”
The feds arrested Eddy at Terminal A on Dodge Island after customs dogs flagged his luggage during security screening. Cops said they found pills and liquid in his bags that tested positive for MDMA, methamphetamine, ketamine and GBL (a chemical linked to GHB) a drug that can knock people out and potentially kill them due to slowing their breathing to dangerous levels.
He appeared in Miami-Dade bond court Monday morning facing one trafficking charge and three counts of controlled substance possession. Judge Christina Miranda set his bond at $7,000.
Facing Serious Prison Time
Eddy faces some of the most serious charges among the nine people arrested Sunday. His MDMA trafficking charge looks to the be the one he’ll most regret. It alone carries a mandatory minimum sentence of three years in prison and a $50,000 fine under Florida law.
Cops said they founds 19.3 grams of MDMA in his luggage, nearly double the 10-gram threshold that triggers trafficking charges in Florida. The three additional possession charges for meth, ketamine and GBL could add up to five years each.
Florida’s drug trafficking laws are notoriously strict. Judges have virtually no discretion to go below the mandatory minimums, and sentences can’t be suspended or deferred. That means even first-time offenders face mandatory prison time if convicted.
Eight Others Also Arrested
The arrests Sunday came as passengers boarded Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas for what Atlantis Events marketed as the world’s largest LGBTQ festival at sea. The ship can hold more than 5,500 people.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Detective Joseph R. Peguero Rivera told The Advocate that nine people total were arrested Sunday evening during a joint operation between the sheriff’s office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. There’s no indication the defendants knew each other or that the arrests were connected beyond happening at the same screening checkpoint. In other words, it doesn’t look like this was some of party cruise drug ring that was busted up.
Besides Eddy, also busted and charged were Brad Kloha, 41, of Nashville; Adam Jones, 49, of Atlanta; Hoi Le, 51, of San Francisco; Joshua Lee Jenkins, 39, of Tacoma, Washington; Ryan D. Medrano, 27, of Phoenix; Tamar J. Wilson, 37, of Chicago; Daisuke Nakanoh, 40, of Chicago; and Ricardo Gabriel Junquera, 39, of Miami.
The arrest reports say the drugs seized included MDMA, LSD, cocaine, ketamine, methamphetamine and GBL. Kloha also faces MDMA trafficking charges after officers found 16.3 grams in his luggage. Le faces methamphetamine trafficking charges. Anyone that knows anything about the drug culture (straight or gay by the way) knows this is the typical cornucopia of “party favors.”
Jenkins, who had the smallest amount of drugs, was released on his own recognizance Monday. The others remained in custody or posted bond.
Social Media Reaction
One commenter on Instinct Magazine claimed to have encountered Eddy at a music festival in Croatia two summers ago, writing that he “proceeded to make a mockery of himself” with behavior that “ruined the vibe for those anywhere near them.”
WEHOonline could not independently verify the claim.
Defense Attorney Says Client Is Innocent
At least one defendant is fighting the charges. Miami defense attorney Jordan Lewin, who represents Jones, said his client denies everything.
“The defense is confident their investigation will demonstrate that he was falsely accused and will be able to show that none of the impounded items belonged to him,” Lewin told The Advocate.
The arrests happened the same way in each case, according to the reports. Customs officers screened luggage in the boarding area with trained dogs, flagged certain bags, conducted field tests on substances found inside, then called in Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputies to make arrests.
Most of the nine defendants had posted bond or been released by Monday afternoon. The cases will move through Miami-Dade circuit court in the coming weeks.
The Symphony of the Seas left port Monday for its weeklong Caribbean voyage and is scheduled to return to Miami on Sunday.
Not surprised about his arrest, as he has a mess last few years with his partying. Would see him at the Meta LA office and he had a reputation of having trysts in the office… Hopefully this arrest will help turn his life around .
I think he is also a porn star known as Eddie Burke.
Why are you posting someone’s address??????! That’s irresponsible and unnecessary.
please read the article its a po box.
But why are you posting his contact information??? What possible purpose does this serve regarding the article?
It’s still irresponsible and unprofessional. We’ve come to expect better of you, sir.
This is a blog, not journalism.
Costly vacation 🤭
He graduated from UCLA Law School and was admitted to the California Bar in 2013. Now all that is at risk; I hope he can get it together because at some point he must have been a very promising young man.
It’s a bit late for “I hope he can get it together”. He will be a convicted drug trafficking felon, and can kiss his license to practice law goodbye. And that’s just the start.
Yeah i’m so happy, bad karma for him, he treat people very bad
No, you don’t know him, he got what he deserved, he’s not a nice man
