West Hollywood Robbery Arrest: Suspect Detained at Gunpoint After Local Business Theft

A West Hollywood robbery arrest was made Sunday night following a detention at gunpoint by Sheriff’s deputies at the intersection of Fuller Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, authorities confirmed Monday.

Deputies from the West Hollywood Station detained the suspect around 10 p.m. Sunday in connection with a robbery at the West Hollywood CVS on La Cienega, according to the desk sergeant on duty Monday morning. The West Hollywood robbery arrest came after deputies responded to reports of the incident near the busy intersection on the eastside of the city.

According to scanner traffic monitored by WEHOonline, deputies called for backup to detain the suspected 211 (robbery) suspect who was on foot and facing northbound at the busy intersection.

“Detention at gunpoint, Fuller and Santa Monica facing northbound,” the dispatcher announced, requesting additional units to respond to the scene. Multiple West Hollywood Station units converged on the location to secure the suspect safely.

The suspect was arrested on robbery charges, though no weapons were involved in the incident, authorities said. The desk sergeant confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community following the West Hollywood robbery arrest.

The West Hollywood robbery arrest was not connected to an attempted burglary reported earlier Sunday on Poinsettia Place in West Hollywood, where two masked suspects fled empty-handed after a resident confronted them mid-break-in, authorities confirmed.

The Sheriff’s Department declined to provide additional details about the victim or the circumstances of the robbery, citing the ongoing investigation. The department has not yet released the suspect’s name or booking information.

This is another unsettling event for WeHo’s eastside. Fuller Ave. and Santa Monica Boulevard is located near a lot of businesses, Plummer Park and residential areas. The intersection sees a lot of foot traffic throughout the day and evening hours.

The bean counters continue to say crime is down. That head-in-the-sand approach is disrespectfully indifferent to the lived experience of West Hollywood residents who see and feel something very different than statistics. We need more focus on the nuts and bolts of sound municipal governance whose number one function is PUBLIC SAFETY.
