Guns Drawn on Santa Monica Boulevard as Sheriff Deputies Stop Wanted Car

West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies drew weapons Thursday evening on Santa Monica Boulevard, blocking streets near Olive Drive in front of Barney’s Beanery and Laurel Supply.

There was a heavy presence as deputies assisted the Los Angeles Police Department.  A West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputy on scene told WEHOonline one person was in custody.

We were told that LAPD had flagged the vehicle as wanted — it had been used in the commission of a crime, the deputy said, and its plates were entered into a law enforcement database. That designation requires deputies to treat the stop as armed and dangerous. Guns out. Standard protocol.

No weapon was found on the occupant. The vehicle hadn’t been searched yet at the time deputies spoke with WEHOonline.

Update: The vehicle in question was a stolen Black 2026 Mercedes Benz GLE.
