At this year’s Outfest LA LGBT film festival, West Hollywood will host a screening of “Bridegroom,” based on the true-life tragic love story between two gay men that went viral with the Youtube video “It Could Happen to You.”

The film will screen on Saturday, July 20 at 1:30 p.m. in Theater 1 at the Director’s Guild Association, 7920 Sunset Blvd. at Hayworth. Tickets are available online, or by calling (213) 480-7065.

“Bridegroom,” directed by Linda Bloodworth Thomason (“Designing Women”), is based on the romantic highlights of the relationship between two men, Tom and Shane, until tragedy strikes. After his death, Tom’s parents refuse to let Shane attend his memorial or funeral. Instead of conceding to the rejection by Tom’s family, Shane makes a video about his and Shane’s relationship and posts it on YouTube. In reality, the video went viral, and was seen almost 4 million times. The film won the Heineken Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Celebrating its 29th year, Outfest will showcase 220 films and videos from 22 different countries, in seven venues across WeHo from Thursday, July 11 through Sunday, July 21. It is expected to draw approximately 40,000 attendees.
