TruvadaDr. Daniel O’Neill, who received his medical school training at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC, is completing his residency in internal medicine at the George Washington University Hospital with a focus on HIV/AIDS and LGBT health. In an essay on Huffington Post, he recently weighed in on the debate over the effectiveness of Truvada in preventing gay men from becoming infected by HIV, an approach known as pre-exposure prophylaxis or PrEP. “I would offer that there is plenty of reason at least to hesitate, that many important details have been glossed over in the recent discussion about PrEP, and that the relatively meager uptake of PrEP by gay men is perhaps prudent,” O’Neill writes. The full essay is here.
