gameThe city of West Hollywood has installed three large cast bronze sculptures of a pair of bears engaged in a game of tag with three young children.

The sculptures, called The Game by Chinese artist Wang Dalong, are sited on the eastern edge of West Hollywood Park adjacent to San Vicente Boulevard, at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. at El Tovar.

“Harmony between people, as well as between the animal kingdom and humanity, is the overriding theme of The Game,” according to a city press release. “Through the creative manifestation of the universal children’s game of tag, the artist uses sculpture to demonstrate our basic interconnectedness in hopes of encouraging the viewer to consider their position in everyday life as well as in the world; to recall memories of their past; and to rethink their reality while continuing to explore the unknown.”

The exhibition of The Game is part of West Hollywood’s Art on the Outside Program, which brings art out into the public realm to enhance the City’s pedestrian-friendly culture. This sculpture is expected to remain at its location for approximately a year.
