West Hollywood logoThe Disabilities Advisory Board, or (DAB), works to raise awareness about disabilities, to recognize the achievements of disability advocates, and to advise local government about issues related to disabilities and accessibility. The DAB’s annual awards recognize individuals, businesses, media outlets and nonprofit organizations for their work with people living with disabilities including accessibility issues, attention to ADA requirements, or advocacy.

The awards are presented as part of the city’s observance of Disabilities Awareness Month. This year, the city is also holding a health and wellness event in conjunction with Disabilities Awareness Month. It will take place on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plummer Park Community Center, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd at Fuller.

I am glad to see the City honoring the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition for their outstanding service to the Homeless disabled population. Their outreach and determination to reach the least of us have saved lives and families and has provided a stable and safe place for many who know that they can get a meal and lots of love 365 days a year. Ted and Penny and their huge network of volunteers and donors deserve all of West Hollywood’s support and gratitude! Thank you for recognizing them and their work!
