With several items left on its agenda, the West Hollywood City Council rushed out the front door of the Council Chambers just before 11 p.m. last night to the sound of a very loud alarm.
Council members and the handful of residents remaining at the Council meeting clustered in the auto court between the Council Chambers and the West Hollywood Library while a fire engine roared up on San Vicente Boulevard. With the advice of City Attorney Mike Jenkins, the Council members agreed to adjourn their meeting and take up the rest of that night’s agenda on Nov. 7.
It wasn’t immediately clear what the alarm was all about. But ultimately it provoked more laughter than panic. And among some tired Council members and city employees there was a sigh of relief as they walked to their cars to go home.
