“Why Drag?” “Why Not!” Magnus Hastings, the photographer known for chronicling drag performers in his book “Why Drag?” now has his work up in a gallery with an opening reception, “Why Not!”, on July 16.
The cocktail reception takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. at Mr Musichead Gallery, 7420 W. Sunset Blvd., in Los Angeles. There will be performances by Alaska 5000, Willam and Misty Violet. DJ Lady C from Dublab will be playing records, and Dave Sirus (Saturday Night Live) will be hosting. More than 40 images will be on display, including photos of Sasha Velour, Bob The Drag Queen, Adore Delano, Katya, Trixie Mattel, Alaska, Bianca Del Rio, Detox and Courtney Act.
Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door the night of the event, with proceeds benefitting the L.A. LGBT Center. Open to all-ages. Food and drinks will be served provided by Absolut Vodka and The Crescent Hotel.
