A team of officers from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station took third place among more than 280 teams in the annual Baker to Vegas relay race.

The 120-mile race, an annual event since 1985, attracts thousands of law enforcement officers from across the country. This year’s relay took place on March 17 and 18 and acknowledged the victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting.

The West Hollywood City Council recognized the team with a proclamation at its meeting on Monday night.

Team members were Deputy Yesenia Olvera, Crime Analyst Brian Hoepner, Deputy Christopher Loman, Sgt. Jeff Bishop, Custody Asst. Christopher Solomon, Deputy Jorge Calvillo, Deputy Danny Martinez and Capt. Sergio Aloma, known for his participation in races across the country.

City Councilmember Lindsey Horvath, who called out the team, said the race was as much about camaraderie and teamwork as winning. Aloma said it also was about maintaining and promoting physical fitness among officers.

Aloma said members of the team will be participating in the third annual Run to Remember this coming weekend at the Grove. The Run to Remember is a half-marathon by police officers, firefighters and community supporters that commemorates peers who have died while in service.

You could instead come to the East Side and deal with the rampant crime and prostitutes we have to deal with on a daily basis.

WOW, that’s very good! Now let’s see them being the FIRST to run down Santa Monica Boulevard to catch criminals in the act of robbing and assaulting people! 🙂
