West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an incident on the 1000 block of North Kings Road in which a gray Toyota traveling northbound collided with a bicyclist attempting to leave the parking lot of Gelsons Market.
The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. today. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. The condition of the bicyclist is unknown.
When are people going to learn, it’s NOT SAFE to drive a bike or skooter in this area. It’s NOT going to change. WeHo attracts a lot of inconsiderate, “unconscious”, drugged and distracted people from all over. The city is not set up for bikes. I’ve said it countless times, I would never let anyone in my family ride bikes in this area. You can ignore the facts, but the fact remains. Many people just don’t care anymore, they don’t pay attention. I’d only ride bikes in a buffered bike zone or highly residential neighborhood, beach bike path, etc. Hope… Read more »
It wasn’t the driver’s fault. Biker wasn’t wearing helmet, definitely head wound and maybe arm/leg injury, but will be ok. Biker was more concerned with how driver was. It was mostly biker’s fault/he hit the car, but probably wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for the construction site blocking the sidewalk and blinding that intersection with their concrete mixers. I’ve said something to construction site mgr about it before, there’s been an increase in accidents there and he was of course a jerk to me. Glad he was standing right there to witness, blood and all, what they’ve caused.
We have no idea who did what. In my experience, many bicyclists think they own the road, and cars should stop for them. You are making lots of assumptions here.
