While there is no immediate threat to West Hollywood residents from the Woolsey and Hill fires, the city is alerting residents that winds can change and smoke and particles may travel. Sensitive individuals, such as those with heart disease, asthma or other respiratory disease, should follow recommendations to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure and to limit physical exertion (whether indoor or outdoor), such as exercise. Updates will be provided online at www.twitter.com/lapublichealth.

The Woolsey fire is burning in Northwest Los Angeles County and in Ventura County, and the Hill fire is burning in the Santa Rosa Valley in Ventura County. The movement of smoke from the fires can be tracked here.

In a statement issued today, the city said it also encourages community members to “review emergency preparedness plans. Plan ahead with neighbors, family members, and for pets and refresh emergency supply kits, water, and food supplies.” Emergency services and disaster preparedness tips can be found online.

Within Los Angeles County, mandatory evacuation is now in effect for all of the City of Malibu, and all areas south of 101 Freeway from the Ventura County line to Las Virgenes Road/Malibu Canyon Road, southward to the ocean due to the Woolsey fire.

The City of West Hollywood is served by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which is providing timely updates on Twitter @LACoFDPIO.
