53 Vehicle Burglaries in 21 Days — A Challenge to WeHo’s Claim That It’s a Safe Place to Visit

West Hollywood is the “safest place to live, work, and visit”? That’s the new version of an oft-used slogan that used to call out “play” rather than “visit.” However, WeHo might not be so safe if a visitor leaves things in his or her car.

There are 53 reports of vehicle burglaries in a recently released list of Part 1 (serious) crimes reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station from Oct. 21 to Nov. 10.

In two of those incidents, Sheriff’s deputies arrested men who were identified as having come from Oakland.  Sheriff’s Captain Edward Ramirez, at a recent town hall meeting, called out gangs from northern California as a major source of car burglaries in West Hollywood and other affluent cities on the west side of Los Angeles County.  Ramirez noted that visitors from out of town might not be aware of the risk of leaving valuables in their cars, a risk that has been widely reported to the residents of West Hollywood

A complete list of Part 1 (serious) crimes reported to the Sheriff’s Station is listed below. A more complete list of all crimes can be found on  Crimemapping.com A list of those arrested in West Hollywood can be  found here.
