WeHo’s Arts Division Is Seeking Submissions from Local Artists and Writers

The City of West Hollywood’s Arts Division is reaching out to local writers and artists to solicit submissions for upcoming LGBT events.  They include:

ALAP Pride Play Reading Festival

The 12th annual City of West Hollywood/ALAP Pride Play Reading Festival is now open for submissions, with a deadline of March 31. Playwrights may submit one full-length and/or one ten-minute play, and the winning plays will be read as part of the Reading Festival on June 6 (shorts) and 7 (full-length). The event is funded by a One City One Pride Arts Grant from the City of West Hollywood.

This year’s theme is “For the Record,” and plays should have LGBTQ themes and/or prominent LGBTQ characters. More information and the application form can be found online.

Call for Artists: LGBTQ Heritage “Past, Present, Future” Exhibit

A call for Artists for “LGBTQ Heritage: Past, Present, Future,” funded by a Transgender Artists Initiative Grant from the City of West Hollywood and curated by artist Leon Mostovoy is now open.  Proposals must be submitted by April 1

In its second year, the exhibitions will run in three main locations from June 12 to 14. The focus will be on the “Present” and embrace the diversity in our community by seeking artists from different ideological perspectives, age, race, color, gender, and sexuality.

Call for Artists: ‘Out There’

The Los Angeles Art Association, with the support of an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood, is  announcing a national call for artists for “Out There,” na exhibition celebrating the LGBT experience during West Hollywood’s Pride Month festivities at Gallery 825.

In its 12th year, “Out There” is an opportunity to exhibit artwork during Pride Month that will run from June 12  to  19, with an opening reception on June 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.. Gallery 825 is located at 825 North La Cienega Blvd.

The entry fee is $45 (free for LAAA members), with a limit of five entries per person. All submissions must be uploaded online by April 24
