UPDATE: Sept. 17, 10:16 p.m.: The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station reports that three men were arrested in the shooting and robbery incident at 8600 Melrose Ave. They have been identified as Talon Walker of, Phoenix, Ariz., Anthony Dayron Moore of Detroit, Mich., and Dontese Emanuel of Seattle, Wash.

UPDATE: Sept. 12, 3 p.m.: Lt. William Moulder of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station says that two men were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) and carrying a loaded weapon, one for false personation, and one for burglary. The incident took place at 8609 Melrose Ave. in front of the RtA Melrose clothing store.

UPDATE: Sept. 12, 11:30 a.m. Sgt. Jesse Lucero of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station confirmed today that several people were arrested last night on charges including assault, theft, and illegal possession of a firearm in the incident that took place last night on the 8600 block of Melrose Avenue between Huntley Drive and Westbourne Drive. That block is the location of the RtA Melrose apparel store and the Heroes Motorcycle shop and the now-closed Le Pain Quotidiene restaurant. Lucero said he could not confirm which if any of those businesses were affected. Given that an investigation is ongoing, he said the number of those arrested and their names cannot be released at this time.

The shooting was reported about 6 p.m. on Melrose Avenue between San Vicente Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard, according to Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Neighbors told KCAL9 a group of young people were at the corner shortly before the shooting.

All of a sudden we heard seven gunshots, and then police fled down the street kind of immediately,” witness Matthew Jones said. “After a few moments, there was this BMW that sped by, clipped two cars to go toward the scene, and then just sped away.”

People were advised to avoid that stretch of Melrose Avenue, along with Huntley Drive between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, according to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.

Multiple people were taken into custody in the area, KCAL9 reported, but their involvement in the shooting was not immediately clear.

One business was struck by the gunfire, according to KCAL9.

Regardless of race, these new visitors are primarily from out of state and I believe are here because of the EDD fraud which is happening: https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2020/09/22/beverly-hills-police-arrest-additional-suspects-in-growing-edd-fraud-scandal/

The BLM rioters, protestors and white antifa who have infiltrated our neighborhood to cause panic, violence and now shootings is being propped up by the inept city council and LA mayor. The Weho Sheriffs department is afraid to confront the black thugs at Cookies, Sunset Blvs and SM Blvd as they “cruise” and shoot at each other. Sadly, the BLM has led for them and antifa to come into our neighborhoods to destroy it.

Cookies is in the city of Los Angeles and has nothing to do with the West Hollywood city council or the Sheriffs department. Please educate yourself on the city boundaries.

And again…there have been plenty of shootings, stabbings, muggings, robberies before BLM and pot dispensaries. This is insane for everyone here to just assume this incident had to do with cookies or BLM. We hardly have any information about what happened.

I’m wondering why we don’t have names, descriptions or pictures of the suspects. Hmmm.

Is really sad that West Hollywood has changed this past 3 months . The looters came and never left. E.P & L.P rooftop nightclub does not help either, groups of people waiting to get in on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday night with loud noise and music from the rooftop nightclub and SUV’s waiting everywhere.

Cookies is the worst thing that’s happened to my neighborhood in the 10 years I’ve lived here.

Everyone complaining about weed dispensaries/”thugs” in this comment section…

This happened near a high end apparel store and there is no connection to any dispensary as far as we know.

It is due to Cookies and all that trash that goes there. Due to the BLM marches and local morons who walked with them. This has shown those people how nice our neighborhood is so now they want to hang out here. If this continues this place will end up like Compton.

Another racist comment on wehoville. How lovely!

I do realize that Cookies has created problems, but there is no evidence this is related to any weed dispensary. There have been murders, guns, and muggings in WEHO way before weed dispensaries. A simple google search would tell you that

This has shown those people how nice our neighborhood is so now they want to hang out here”

Did you think West Hollywood was some secret enclave? lol

You can’t just label everyone “racist” when you don’t agree with them.

I see a lot of disguised racism in these comments. Have the recent protests and events not gotten through to the residents of our town?

You’ll find a lot of those types of comments on this site. The editors once told me they leave them up “so that we are aware that there are people in our community who are racists.”

The only evidence I have of any one race being responsible for this is the one picture above. But if there is indeed significant evidence of what is being suggested about a single race of people committing crime in WeHo it is NOT racist to point out the obvious. It may surprise Snarkygal to know that the recent protests had the opposite affect on me that she would expect; I became fearful of the radicals I saw, and of how easily some people can be stirred into a frenzy. They did not endear themselves to me at all and, instead,… Read more »

This is what happens when the city of West Hollywood allows rooftop nightclub and pot shops open in our neighborhood.

Hmmm there were no pot shops open when Sal Mineo was stabbed in the heart in 1976 on Holloway Drive…

There is no evidence this is related to weed or cookies or any dispensary for that matter.

I feel like the dispensaries were the worst thing that happened to West Hollywood. In 104 degree heat a few days ago, Melrose was a ghost town….except for Cookies, which had the usual around the block line, waiting to get their fix, showing up in murdered out vehicles and wandering across Melrose without regard for traffic. Folks who play here don’t live here…it’s time for WEHO to start protecting the people here who pay property taxes and care about the town. Otherwise some of us will take our 40K a year and spend it in another town where it’s appreciated… Read more »
