LA County Hospitalizations Rising while ICU Availability Plunging

COVID-19 hospitalizations in Los Angeles County continue rising at an alarming rate, while ICU capacity continues to plummet.

Some 186 more people were hospitalized on Wednesday than on Tuesday, with a total of 3,299 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19, according to data released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Of those hospitalized, 23% are in the ICU.

Hospitalizations in LA County have increased over 400% in the past five weeks. On Nov.  1, the number of people hospitalized was 791.

The 11-county Southern California region’s availability of ICU beds now stands at 9%, down from 10.1% on Tuesday and 10.9% on Monday.

Because the number of available ICU beds is so low, the state has put the Southern California region under a new Safer at Home lockdown order that started Monday morning at midnight. This lockdown is scheduled to last three weeks, ending on Dec. 28, but could be extended if the COVID numbers don’t come down.

Los Angeles County reported 9,243 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the county to a cumulative total of 475,271 cases since the pandemic began in March.

Biden was right about a dark winter.

Why doesn’t the sitting president ever use his platform to show support for the stressed out nurses and doctors? Why is he tweeting about Faux News ratings? These healthcare workers are being pushed to their breaking point.

This could have been avoided.

Remember when Biden told people to go out and vote *in person* during the pandemic months of the primary because he thought it would advantage him?

Lol, you don’t remember a few months ago? Good grief. Point is–Biden doesn’t give a damn about you, me, or the pandemic. He cares about his donors, and servicing them and *not us* is what we can look forward to. Is he demanding cash payments to all Americans right now? Hell no, he’s appointing actual Republicans to his transition team and nominating corporate ghouls to his cabinet

Hey Charlie Brown, how about you link a source to that claim. You do realize Biden is not in office yet and has virtually no way of “demanding” cash payments now, right? The people that DO have power are sitting senators. Those are the people you should be unhappy with. Why are you making up lies about Biden not caring about the pandemic when he has laid out a comprehensive plan to combat it for his first 100 days in office? Not to mention a panel of scientists and disease specialists to be on his task force. What are you… Read more »

Cindy McCain is on Biden’s transition team. https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-john-mccain-cindy-mccain-joe-biden-elections-d77e10c8aab1ef8f0aa88ee52e2b1dea

As President elect (shudder), Biden has power to set the coming agenda and wield power on our behalf. But he is affirmatively choosing not to!

Sorry you have such strong opinions with such a poor understanding of politics. I suggest reading more!

Yes and Cindy McCain’s endorsement of Biden undoubtedly helped him win the state of Arizona. Not all republicans are the party of Trump, people like Cindy McCain and Kasich have rebuked toxic Trumpism. Thanks for not addressing any of the points I brought up in my comment. I’m guessing you have no idea about Biden’s agenda because you refuse to actually read and watch what he’s said. All the information is there at your fingertips! https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/11/09/biden-coronavirus-task-force/ ““I think it would be better if they had the $1,200 [payments to families]” in the relief package, Biden said at a press conference.”… Read more »
