As the state lifted its regional stay-at-home lockdown order on Monday, COVID numbers in Los Angeles County were down significantly in all categories. However, those lower numbers may just be a weekend reporting delay or it could be further evidence the lastest surge is still declining.
County health officials announced 43 more COVID-related deaths on Monday. The county’s cumulative death toll is now 15,303 people.
The highest number of deaths in a single day was 318 deaths, which was recorded on Jan. 8.
There are 6,486 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Los Angeles County on Monday. That’s 211 fewer people than were hospitalized on Sunday when there were 6,697 people hospitalized.
The county’s all-time high for COVID hospitalizations occurred on Jan. 7, when there were 8,098 people hospitalized.
The state reported there are 1,565 people in the ICU.
LA County reported 6,642 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. The county now has a cumulative total of 1,079,396 cases since the pandemic began in March.
To date, more than 5.4 million people have been tested for the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Of those tested, an overall average of 19% are testing positive, although the positivity rate for Monday was 11%.
West Hollywood recorded 14 new cases for a cumulative total of 1,864 cases since the pandemic began. The city had no new deaths; the cumulative death total is 23 deaths.

- Beverly Hills – 16 new cases for a total of 2,168 cases and no new deaths for a total of 20 deaths.
- Carthay neighborhood – 1 new case for a total of 805 cases and no new deaths for a total of 40 deaths.
- Culver City – 10 new cases for a total of 1,845 cases and no new deaths for a total of 66 deaths.
- Hollywood – 41 new cases for a total of 4,616 cases and no new deaths for a total of 46 deaths.
- Melrose neighborhood – 36 new cases total of 6,972 cases and 1 new death for a total of 153 deaths.
- Miracle Mile – 6 new cases for a total of 771 cases and no new deaths for a total of 9 deaths.
- Park La Brea – 2 new cases for a total of 487 cases and no new deaths for a total of 1 death.
- Santa Monica – 15 new cases for a total of 3,794 cases and no new deaths for a total of 108 deaths.
The Carthay neighborhood incorporates the areas of Los Angeles between the Beverly Hills city limits and Fairfax Avenue, with Beverly Boulevard as the northern border and Wilshire Boulevard as the southern border.
The Melrose neighborhood incorporates the areas of Los Angeles east of La Cienega and west of Vermont Avenue, between Santa Monica Boulevard on the north and Beverly Boulevard on the south.
