In the wake of an explosive report alleging widespread fraud by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, West Hollywood City Council will deliberate whether to audit the department’s records to find out whether they billed the city for hours they were not on patrol.
The accusations were first leveled in court by the City of Compton. The Los Angeles Times quoted an anonymous deputy who said he was asked to alter records showing that the department had been on patrol when they hadn’t been.
“That’s straight-up fraud,” he said. “It’s so rampant that it became the norm.”
City Council will also get a sneak peek tonight of a striking concept for the intersection of Robertson and Santa Monica that could become a new WeHo landmark.
The Treehouse — a 65-foot-tall illuminated tree sculpture, surrounded by two levels of mixed-use units and a nightclub — was first unveiled by its developers in a Zoom meeting for residents of the neighborhood last month.
City Council will also formally appoint David Wilson as the new City Manager after announcing his hiring last month.
The new city manager has some tough decisions to make…. public safety should be on the top of his priority list. There needs to be an open investigation for all public safety department – LA County Sheriffs Los Angeles county fire Fire and block by block ambassadors.
Why is the city council meeting on Zoom still?
Revert to live in person meetings with public access now. And reopen city hall.
yup.
It’s easier to dismiss the voice of the people with these zoom meetings. Less people attend and even less speak.
They dismissed everyone because the meeting was canceled due to city loosing their dial-up internet connection.
