Couple arguing in parked car robbed of Rolex

A man and woman were each robbed of their expensive watches around 1 a.m. Saturday night in West Hollywood, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

The pair were arguing in their car in a parking lot near 8800 Sunset Blvd. when a Rolls Royce approached them. Four to six black men allegedly got out of the vehicle and physically assaulted the pair before fleeing with their watches, a Michael Kors worth $1,000 and a Rolex worth $18,000.

The man and woman were reported to be drunk and uncooperative when deputies arrived on the scene.

Los Angeles police warned the public in March that wearing expensive jewelry could make them a target for criminals.

Anyone with information about this robbery is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department West Hollywood station at 310-855-8850.

Just curious how a Michael Kors watch is worth 1k. These are a couple of hundred at best and that a couple of hundred too much. If it can be bought at Macy’s it’s cheap

Horvath might likely identify this crime as having occurred in an upscale neighborhood and as a squabble between Lamborghini and Rolls Royce owners. Nothing to fret about. We’ll invite them out for cocktails and work it out. All is well in Weho.

Will you be writing an op-ed about this, Larry? You can team up with your buddy Erickson.

Sadly, the leadership in Weho, BH and LAPD don’t want to arrest black robbers.

We no longer live in a civilized society when you can’t wear expensive clothes or drive nice cars for fear of being attacked. It doesn’t have to be this way. It is going to keep happening and will get worse if we keep electing people with the same mindset on crime.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from years of watching Hart to Hart and Murder She Wrote, it’s that you leave the real valuable stuff at home, and wear the faux stuff when you’re out. Also learned that turbans are always a nice touch.

Real quick to say six Black men; what color were the drunks in the car?

Who cares what color the victims were? We don’t need a description to help catch them.

We’re not looking for “the drunks in the car” because they were the victims and have been identified. We’re looking for the six unidentified Black men in the Rolls Royce who allegedly robbed them. Sadly, there’s enough racism in this world that we don’t need to create it out of thin air.

🙁

Who cares would be the answer to your ignorant question. Is your name George Gascon? Sounds like some racially charged thing he would say. The black men are described because they committed a violent crime and need to be described with as much detail as possible so that they can be found and prosecuted. The “drunks” happen to be crime victims.

We have got to stop these people from South Central from coming here. If we have to start racial profiling I am all for it.

According to CBS News the folks robbed were sitting in a Lamborghini while the criminals drive off in a RR. Only in West Hollywood. Question is what is the attraction?

The robberies in West Hollywood are a newer phenomenon, but residential burglary crews have for years been renting expensive cars to drive into wealthy neighborhoods throughout LA county, hoping no one will call the cops when they show up because they’re in a nice car. I doubt the RR was actually owned by any of the passengers of that car, unless of course they can afford it because they’ve been stealing a lot of expensive watches lately. The attraction to West Hollywood is the fact that residents and visitors have money and look like they have money. Also, we’re easy… Read more »

LAPD and the Sheriffs Dept have stated that LA criminal street gangs (mostly Bloods and Crips) are involved in these robberies. They have been renting(or stealing) expensive cars and going to wealthy neighborhoods, hoping to blend in. Then they look for potential victims to rob. Police have also indicated that many of these gangs have lookouts that either work in the area (restaurants and bars) or show up pretending to be customers, see someone with an expensive item on them, and then they call and tip off their gangster friends who then follow and rob the victims. Very unsettling because… Read more »

Originally this scheme began with valet parking teams cooperating while combing cars, having access to keys, knowing the amount of time available with patron in club or restaurant. Seems there is a new layer with RR drivers robbing Lamborghini owners. Being a public spectacle is not smart and puts ones life in danger. West Hollywood continues to send out engraved invitations with lax enforcement, enticing miscreants far and wide. Perfect formula for the city blind to the obvious outcome.

That is a reason to keep your car keys separate from your house keys and your registration in your wallet.

And his much influence does the Black Hip Hop music industry directly or tangentially have to drive this. Seems their leaders would realize that possibly the wrong message is getting out there and they are most likely the only ones to condemn and control it. All the flash, bling and outrageous fashion ? signals they have arrived but how have they arrived and where is the inherent ingegrity?
