The current Mayor of West Hollywood Sepi Shyne is running to replace Congressman Adam Schiff. Shyne announced her run shortly after accepting the ceremonial role as Mayor of West Hollywood.
Shyne’s Campaign Kickoff Fundraiser will take place at an art gallery near West Hollywood. The invitation does not include an address. The event does not appear to be in West Hollywood.
The campaign invitation list the suggested donations: $6,600 for Double Max, $3,300 for a Champion, $2,500 to be a Sponsor, $500 for a Supporter, $250 for a Neighbor, and $125 to be a Friend of the Campaign.
Shyne, who is serving her first term as a West Hollywood City Council member is serving her first time as the ‘appointed Mayor. Shyne announced her campaign shortly after being sworn in ‘to accept this obligation freely and without any mental reservation’.
This past week, former Chair of the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Keith Kaplan, spoke about Shyne’s alleged abuses of power. Shyne called the President and CEO of the Chamber, Genevieve Morrill, asking for Kaplan’s removal from the Chamber board after Kaplan penned an op-ed defending Myra Friedman, a disabled resident who was speaking out against scooters.
Friedman, a member of the West Hollywood Disability Board, resigned in protest after she contacted Shyne to discuss the scooter issue and was met with a Trump-like response, “there are good people on both sides.”
The recall effort began to take shape after Shyne retaliated against her appointee to the Women’s Advisory Board, Keely Field. Field has pioneered drug test strips that are not available in West Hollywood bars and nightclubs. Shyne had brought the item forward without a mention of Field’s efforts. After an interview in WEHOville, Shyne told Field that she would be removed from the Women’s Advisory Board for speaking out.
Conversations about a possible recall have surfaced among a number of residents and petitioners, citing Shyne’s run for Congress. “If she is going to spend the next two years campaigning for Congress, let’s find someone who wants to serve West Hollywood.”
Just go away.
I’m getting vibes from her

Near WeHo indicates that it is not in WeHo.
She apparently doesn’t want any feedback at all.
One of Sepi’s first moves as an elected official was to demand my removal from a local coalition dedicated to improving community safety in WeHo. I helped co-found this coalition in response to the murders of Timothy Dean and Gemmel Moore.
City Hall did nothing with multiple formal complaints of abuse of office.
Sepi’s abuse of authentic activists who criticize her policies was an early warning of her authoritarian tendencies.
Exactly how did she accomplish that? Her authoritarian tendencies should not be able to affect private citizen coalitions.
She pressured the Corporate entity that housed the coalition and they complied— she votes on their project funding after all. I filed a formal complaint with their Federal funders but chose not to pursue a lawsuit despite clear violations of CA employment law as it applies to interns. This is just an early example of a pattern of abuse that Sepi went on to exhibit with other activists and community leaders, we all deserve justice from such abuse of office.
Who voted for this mess of a person.
Ask Lauren Meister about a recall I’m sure she’s for it
If any of the readers has the knowledge of how to start a recall…DO IT! I have no clue or I would.
Since she (is this pronoun right for It?) loves to boast of her Iranian heritage, she should take all contributions in the Rial.
Where do we sign the Recall petition??
LOL- I wanted to donate to recall-else I will have to run or have. a good friend from Glendale.
Not sure what you mean. Please elaborate.
Recall? Where do I sign?!
My question as well. There would be so many signatures!! Let’s do this! Power to the People! Where/when??
she has zero self awareness.
