Deputy Sheriff, Educator; Council Candidate

I am an 11 year veteran of law enforcement, 5-year member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and I proudly served our community of West Hollywood for 1 ½ years. I completed my Executive Master of Leadership at the University of Southern California and I hold a certificate in public management from the USC School of Policy, Planning and Development. Additionally, I serve as an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Phoenix, Southern California Campus.

Prior to becoming a law enforcement officer, I served 8 years in the United States Navy as an Air Traffic Controller, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class.  I played an active role in advocating for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) and with its passage, I am currently in the process of gaining a commission in the California State Military Reserves.

Family and home have always been the most important things to me – West Hollywood is my home.  After 17 years of dedicated public service, I am bringing my passion, experience and leadership to the table with a committed focus to uphold the progressive values and creative aspects of our city and to incorporate new ideas, transparency and a fresh perspective to city management. I am dedicated to enhancing civic engagement for everyone who calls West Hollywood home and will be steadfast in listening to the needs of our entire community; I will work with our constituents to develop common sense solutions and will make fair and effective decisions.

My top priorities are public safety, managing our resources smartly and implementing comprehensive strategies to address the needs our community.   Key issues I have developed strategies for include: creating a greater sense of community and transparency through civic engagement, supporting our small business community and implementing smart growth principles.  Additionally, I have developed strategies to address affordable housing, social services, transportation, traffic circulation and parking in our city.  I will be accountable and accessible to our community members.

As I offer my leadership, service and skills to build a safer, vibrant and thriving environment, I need your support!  Your voice and your vote matter.  It is an honor to ask for your vote to be your voice on City Council and to move West Hollywood forward.
