A couple identified by West Hollywood Sheriff’s detectives using a license plate recognition program have been arrested for multiple car burglaries in WeHo and other area cities.
The West Hollywood detectives used the Automated License Plate Recognition system that had captured a photo of the suspect vehicle near a hotel in Carson. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, they then discovered the room number at that hotel where the couple was staying.
Hotel employees told the detectives that a friend of the suspects had removed all of the property from the hotel room on Sunday. However detectives were able to contact that friend, who brought the property to the West Hollywood station and turned it over to detectives.
Over 130 pieces of stolen property were recovered at an estimated value of $15,000 to $20,000. Detectives have identified some of the property as belonging to victims from West Hollywood, Culver City, Glendale, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. Detectives are attempting to identify additional victims of vehicle burglaries to return the property to its owners.
The burglary suspects also were sought by the L.A. Police Department’s Wilshire Division for multiple vehicle burglaries. Its Northeast Division arrested the couple on Sunday. While being booked the male suspect told officers that he and his companion were staying in the hotel in Carson.
There has been a rash of auto burglaries in recent months in West Hollywood on local streets and in parking structures. The WeHo Sheriff’s Station has continually advised local residents to not leave any valuable items in their cars.
Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station Detective Amber Leist at (310) 358-4021. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call Crime Stoppers by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
I will give it to you, Chris, that they should have been actually convicted before their pics are published, but chronic criminals need to be “outed”.
What’s Donald Trump got to do with it, Chris Sanger? What an odd thing to say!
The US Constitution to Woody, Tom and blueeyedboy – people are innocent until proven guilty. Not sure if pics should be regularly posted even upon conviction, but less so just because one is arrested. But I’m sure Donald Trump agrees with you,
You can thank the people voted for prop 57! He will be out probably serving less than 20% of prison term (If he goes to prison). He will be back doing it all over again!
I agree with Woody
Woody is absolutely right! Alison, I don’t even know where to begin with you. The commission of a crime is shameful, and we need to know who it is who decides to not be a part of a civil society.
So much for a couple of cheap thieves, now, as for the Bicycle Thief of Sunset, he can still be seen roaming about the area. Ask the doorman at the Body Shop or the guys at the Mexican restaurant nearby.
NOBODY SHOULD BE SHAMED! That is so barbaric.
When criminals like these are apprehended & arrested, their names & pictures should be published for obvious reasons, so they can be identified by the pubic & so that they can be publicly shamed
