Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from July 31 to Aug. 6. The list also includes each case number.
July 31
Armed Robbery. 8500 block Melrose Avenue at 10:15 pm. Two men were standing on the sidewalk when they were approached from behind by two men. The suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his watch and the victim complied. Both suspects then ran west bound on Melrose Avenue and north bound on Westbourne Drive and out of view. Aug. 1
Vehicle Burglary. 1100 block Orange Grove Avenue between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a handbag containing a laptop computer and camera from the rear passenger’s seat. Loss $4,800. #04113
Aug. 2
Grand Theft. 8400 block Melrose Avenue between 6:02 and 6:07 p.m. An unknown suspect removed merchandise from the parking lot. The stolen items had been recently delivered and were left unsecured in the parking lot. Loss $4,000. #04127
Residential Burglary. 600 block Westmount Drive between Aug. 2 and Aug. 4. An unknown suspect used an unlocked front door to gain entry and removed a laptop computer, cell phone, television and camera from the bedroom. Loss $4,600. #04181
Vehicle Burglary. 800 block Westbourne Drive between 8 and 9:15 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear lift gate window and removed two bags containing clothing, sunglasses, and medication from the rear storage area. Loss $3,500. #04134
Vehicle Burglary. 8600 block Melrose Avenue between 8:45 and 10:27 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed several bags of recently purchased clothing from the back seat. Loss $2,700. #04136
Aug. 3
Residential Burglary. 800 block Palm Avenue at 4:30 a.m. A man used an unlocked patio door to gain entrance and removed a cell phone, credit cards and $400 cash from the living room. The victim was home and saw the suspect inside of the residence before he ran away. The cell phone was recovered outside of the residence. Loss $400. #04141
Vehicle Burglary. 800 block Palm Avenue between 8 and 9:10 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing glasses from the back seat. Loss $330. #04130
Vehicle Burglary. 800 block Palm Avenue between 5:45 and 9:10 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing comic books and a Boy Scout merit badge from the back seat. Loss $330. #04130
Vehicle Burglary. 1200 block La Brea Avenue between at 11:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a suitcase containing clothing from the back seat. Loss $1,800. #04153
Aug. 4
Other Burglary. 7300 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 2:18 a.m. An unknown suspect used force on a second-floor door to gain access and removed a laptop computer from the office area. The location is an active construction site. Loss $900. #04087
Residential Burglary. 1200 block Gardner Street between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a window screen to gain access and removed two watches and vehicle keys from the bedroom. Loss $3,800. #04179
Vehicle Burglary. 900 block Hancock Avenue between 6:45 and 8:10 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a satchel bag containing a cell phone and paperwork from the passenger’s side floorboard. Loss $1,500. #04155
Vehicle Burglary. 900 block Hancock Avenue between 6:50 and 8:30 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a tote bag containing a laptop computer and wallet from the floorboard area. Loss $2,900. #04156
Aug. 5
Residential Burglary. 8200 block De Longpre Avenue at 11:16 p.m. A homeless man used an unlocked front door to gain entry and ransacked the apartment. The victim came home and heard the suspect inside of his residence. Deputies responded but did not approach the residence because there were several unsecured loaded firearms inside of the residence. The suspect refused to leave the apartment and a lengthy standoff began, which ended 12 hours later after the suspect surrendered to deputies. #04190
Vehicle Burglary. 914 N. Fairfax Ave. between 3:30 and 4:15 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a purse containing a wallet and makeup from the front seat. Loss $700. #04186
Aug. 6
Other Burglary. 100 block N Robertson Boulevard at 5:09 a.m. An unknown suspect used force on the rear door to gain entry and ransacked a jewelry display case. Loss- unknown. #04196
Strong Arm Robbery (Attempt) – Suspect Arrested. Santa Monica Boulevard / Fairfax Avenue
at 10:30 p.m. A man was walking through the alley when a homeless man approached him and demanded his cell phone. The victim refused and was punched two times in the face by the suspect. The suspect then ran south on Fairfax Avenue. Responding deputies located and arrested the suspect. No loss. #04209
Vehicle Burglary. 8400 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 12:15 and 1:55 am. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed a leather bag containing makeup and a freezer bag containing food from the back seat. Loss $750. #04193
Vehicle Burglary. Crescent Heights / Santa Monica Boulevard between 8 p.m. and 6:15 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a purse and laptop computer from the rear floorboard. Loss $1,500. #04215
And when is this Crime Blotter ever going to put descriptions of the suspects? If the Sheriffs aren’t providing it, would you kindly ask them to? We’d at least have a better chance of helping the Sheriffs apprehending the suspects if we knew what to look for.
When are the residents of west Hollywood going to learn not to leave valuables in the back seats of their vehicles even for a few minutes? It’s just pure stupidity, nothing less.
