Two Armed Robberies and Four Home Break-Ins in WeHo Last Week

Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from Sept. 11 to 17. The list includes each case number.

Sept. 11

Nothing significant to report.

Sept. 12

Grand Theft. 8700 block Santa Monica Blvd. at 3:30 p.m.. An unknown suspect removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, hard drive, passport and glasses from the back seat. The car was being washed when the theft occurred. Loss $2,500. #04974

Armed Robbery. 8700 block Rangely Avenue at 12:45 p.m. Two men were invited into the residence by the victim. A dispute over money ensued and one of the suspects produced a handgun. The victim ran from the residence and when he returned, he discovered cash and property belonging to him was missing. Loss $7,300. #04931

Sept. 13

Grand Theft. 9200 block Sunset Boulevard between 9:15 a.am. and noon. An unknown suspect removed a pearl necklace from the center console of the unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was with a valet service when the theft occurred. Loss $5,000. #04969

Other Burglary (Suspect Arrested). 600 block North Doheny Drive between 1:54 and 2:04 a.m. A man smashed a rear window to gain access and set off a burglary alarm. An employee responding to the alarm found the suspect inside the business. The suspect ran from the business and was arrested later that evening while committing a residential burglary on Rangely Avenue. Loss $140. #04944

Other Burglary. 600 block North Doheny Drive (Attempt) at 2 a.m. A man kicked the front metal door several times in an attempt to gain entry but was unsuccessful. Loss $100 (damaged door). #04958

Residential Burglary (Suspect Arrested). 9000 block Rangely Avenue at 2 a.m. A man unlocked the front yard gate to gain access to the porch area and attempted to force the front door open. A dog inside the residence started barking, which prompted the homeowner to call the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect after a short foot pursuit. #04945

Residential Burglary. 9000 block Rangely Avenue between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. An unknown suspect cut a window screen and used an unlocked rear door to gain access. The victim was unsure if any items were taken. Loss $50 (screen door). #04951

Residential Burglary. 9000 block Rangely Avenue between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. An unknown suspect entered a storage locker in the car port but did not take anything. No sign of forced entry. #04952

Strong Arm Robbery. 7600 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 7:30 p.m.. After an argument over parking, a woman attempted to take the victim’s cell phone from her hand but was unsuccessful. No loss. #04957

Sept. 14

Sept. 15

Residential Burglary. 1000 block Stanley Avenue between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. An unknown suspect used the front door to gain access and removed jewelry from the bedroom. No sign of forced entry. Loss $1,200. #05004

Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 8200 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 9:09 a.m. A man was walking westbound on Santa Monica Boulevard when he was approached from behind by two men. A struggle for the victim’s shoulder bag ensued and the victim was knocked to the ground. The victim released the bag and both suspects fled the area eastbound on Santa Monica. Loss $1,500. Both suspects were arrested later in the day. #04994

Sept. 16

Armed Robbery. 1100 block North Vista Avenue at 11:30 a.m. A man and a woman were walking southbound on Vista Avenue when they were approached by two men armed with handguns. The suspects demanded property from the victims and they complied. The suspects fled the area southbound on Vista Avenue. The victims waited 30 minutes to report the incident. Loss $1,700 (2 cell phones, 1 woman’s wallet). #05029

Sept. 17

Strong Arm Robbery. 1000 block Hancock Avenue at 1:30 a.m. Two men were walking southbound on Hancock Avenue when a motorcycle carrying two people pulled up next to them on the street. The passenger of the motorcycle pulled a shoulder bag away from the victim and then rode away on the motorcycle. Loss $3,000 (cell phone, two wallets, two computers, ring, headphones). #05039
