The results of a DUI taking out a fire hydrant on Santa Monica Boulevard and Hancock. (Video by Huntley Woods)

Those driving by in a hurry last night might have mistaken it for an in-ground water fountain, maybe an addition to the colorful streetlights added recently to call out West Hollywood’s Boystown.

The crash occurred on the northwest corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Hancock, in front of the Tender Greens restaurant.

Lt. Jose Aguirro of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station said the suspect was arrested about 11:20 p.m. last night. There is no report of other injuries.
