Firefighters and public safety officers today returned for the second time to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in a parade of police cars and fire engines to show their support for those working on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today’s two parades (one at 9:45 a.m. and one at 7:15 p.m.) took place on Santa Monica Boulevard, with the vehicles turning south on San Vicente Boulevard to enter the Cedars-Sinai campus, where they were greeted with applause and cheers from healthcare workers on Gracie Allen Drive in front of the emergency center entrance. The parade included officers from the Beverly Hills police and fire departments as well West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies, Los Angeles Police officers and L.A. County firefighters.
Today’s event was a celebration of National Nurses Day and was proposed by West Hollywood City Council members John Heilman and Lindsey Horvath.
On April 26 law enforcement officers and firefighters organized their own similar parade, which drew a large crowd of healthcare workers to Gracie Allen Drive to cheer and applaud them for the recognition of their work.
Publicity stunt. it would be interesting to see how much Cedars and people associated with Cedars donated to City Council campaigns. Back to back articles about Cedars on WEHOville. There are over 50 RN’s who live in West Hollywood who do not work at Cedars (Source: California Nurses Assoc.). Plus many other Medical workers. There are many West Hollywood Residents who do not get medical services at Cedars so why is there so much publicity given to a Hospital in Los Angeles? May 6th was Florence Nightengale’s birthday and is NATIONAL Nurses Day. The caravan was NOT a West Hollywood event. It was LA County Sheriffs, Beverly Hills Police, and LA County Fire Dept and LAPD. It was organized by the county to thank ALL nurses everywhere.
