Two men from Georgia are set to be arraigned next month in connection with the shooting death of another Georgia resident in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles.
Robert Aikins, 22, of Stone Mountain, and Shidreyius McClinton, 20, of Atlanta, are charged with murdering Nazeer Ejua Defares, 24, of Decatur, on Feb. 26.
The criminal complaint alleges that the two personally used a handgun.
Detectives believe Defares was killed during a robbery and pushed out of a moving vehicle, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Witnesses told police they heard two or three shots and found Defares on the ground between two vehicles at Rosewood Avenue and Gardner Street, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Aikins and McClinton were arrested Feb. 27 and have remained behind bars since then in lieu of $3 million bail, jail records show.
They are due in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom April 7 for arraignment.
