Since Tuesday there has been no increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in West Hollywood, with today’s count remaining at 188.
The number of confirmed infections countywide continues to grow at a high rate. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health today reported 1,329 new confirmed infections countywide, which brings the totally number of confirmed infections in the county to 62,338., The Health Department today confirmed 56 new COVID-19-related deaths, with a total of 2,620 in the county thus far. However, the seven-day average number of deaths remains at 30, which means it has not increased over the past 14 days.
The Health Department today reported no increase in the 3,680 West Hollywood residents who have been tested for the virus. The death count remains at four in WeHo.
In today’s announcement of the latest count of infections, the Health Department said that “COVID-19 testing continues to be prioritized for hospitalized patients, healthcare workers, and first responders with symptoms, as well as residents and employees, both symptomatic and asymptomatic, in long-term care facilities or other congregate living settings where there are outbreaks.”
It said that it recommends testing for anyone who is older or has underlying health conditions with symptoms, as well as people who have been close contacts of people who are positive for COVID-19. “Anyone that has symptoms should also consider testing. It is important to note testing negative for COVID-19 right after being exposed does not mean you can’t become infected later during the incubation period. Individuals who are tested too soon after being exposed, are less likely to test positive because the viral load may be undetectable to the test. If anyone was possibly exposed to someone with COVID-19, and the test result is negative, they should remain at home for the full 14 days, to prevent spreading illness to others. As of today, the number of confirmed infections in Beverly Hills has increased by two to 146. In Culver City the number of confirmed infections remains at 162. The number of infections in the Hollywood neighborhood has increased by one to 295. Confirmed infections in the Melrose neighborhood increased by 19 to a total of 620.
