Dodger Stadium is being transformed from a COVID-19 testing site into a COVID-19 vaccination site.
The stadium, the largest coronavirus testing site in the nation, offered its last test on Monday. Officials plan to reopen the stadium parking lot as a site offering drive-up vaccinations starting on Friday.
The Dodger Stadium site will be able to vaccinate up to 12,000 people per day when it is fully up and running.
This shift will “temporarily reduce testing capacity in L.A. County, but it will more than triple the number of daily vaccines available to be dispersed to Angelenos,” according to a statement for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
At the same time, the Veteran’s Affairs parking lot in Brentwood is also being transformed from a testing site into a vaccination site.
The testing site at Dodger Stadium opened in May 2020 and has administered over one million tests in the eight months it has been in operation. TV news crews have routinely shown overhead photos of the cars lined up for people to get tested at the stadium.
Although the loss of Dodger Stadium will mean fewer tests available for a short while, officials plan to make up the difference by increasing the number of tests offered at other sites in Los Angeles County. More mobile testing will be also offered at sites around the county.
The nearest county-sponsored sites to West Hollywood offering free testing are:
- 3606 W. Exposition Blvd., at Crenshaw Boulevard, adjacent to the Expo Line stop at Crenshaw
- 3834 S. Western Ave., three blocks south of Exposition Boulevard, near the Expo Line stop at Western
- 2401 W 6th St., three blocks west of Alvarado Street in MacArthur Park, a few blocks from the MacArthur Park Metro stop
- 501 N. Glendale Ave., two blocks south of the 134 freeway, in Glendale

Testing is also available at many health-care centers and providers closer to West Hollywood, but a testing referral is often needed and they may charge for the test.
Vaccines are being given according to CDC protocols. LA County is currently striving to inoculate front-line health care workers and other health care providers.
“Vaccines are the surest route to defeating this virus and charting a course to recovery, so the city, county and our entire team are putting our best resources on the field to get Angelenos vaccinated as quickly, safely and efficiently as possible,” said Garcetti.
